Most of us go through our lives thinking about what we should have done in the past. How we should have reacted, how much time we should have spent with loved ones, what we should have bought, what we should have experienced. We retrospectively reflect and chastise ourselves for deliberating on acting appropriately when we have the ideal chance – Doing it Today and not Tomorrow. We do this on a disturbingly regular frequency.
Although retrospective reflection can help prevent future deliberation, assuring correct responses to situations and decisions that are presented to us, it should not be used as an opportunity to go over old ground. What is done is done, learn the lesson once and do what you feel you should be doing Today, Today, because you might not be able to do it Tomorrow.
